Art Lebedev Verbarius Word Clock

The Verbarius electronic clock by Art Lebedev, a design firm that’s also given us fancy gadgets like the OLED Optimus Maximus keyboard, icon fridge magnets, folder flash drives and the upcoming Optimus Aux keypad. The Verbarius displays time not by numbers, but solely by phrases like “Twenty-nine past eleven a.m.” or “Half past ten”. Amazing, but pricey. The clock works just as described, displaying phrases instead of times. You can have up to ten different variations on a single “minute”, so 10:10 could be “ten ten”, “ten past ten”, “ten minutes past ten”, “fifty til eleven”, or whatever other weird notation you can think of. To make your own language packs (it already comes with English, French, Russian and Spanish), just make an .xls file and send it to Art Lebedev. They’ll convert it to Verbarius’ proprietary format. Emoticon Keypad Makes Instant Messaging a Breeze

Called “Bajca”, this USB-powered device “connects to the computer, adding 16 emotional keys that represents a different ’smile’ each one: finally each emoticon is found in one key, apart from before where a combination of keys had to be used in order to create the same emotion.” The keys can be replaced with others having different graphics and meaning. Apple iPhone 3G Ad Banned in UK

That’s right, the British Advertising Standards Authority has banned an Apple iPhone 3G ad for being misleading, “as any iPhone user knows, any similarities between reality and those iPhone ads is a coincidence.” After banning an Apple iPhone ad earlier this year, the British Advertising Standards Authority has pulled out another one that glossed over how “really really” fast the new iPhone 3G is.

Porsche Panamera Officially Unveiled

Available in S and Turbo models, the Porsche Panemera comes equipped “with a 4.8-liter V8 putting out 400 Hp sauce and 500 HP, respectively — both will also get Porsche’s PDK 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.” These sedans are going to be quite large if, as the leaked information states, the vehicle is actually 16.3 feet long and 6.3 feet wide. brent comber wooden furniture

Canadian designer brent comber creates furniture using wood in unusual ways. his ‘alder’ series features branches which have been clumped together and cut into geometric forms. the result of this process keeps the form of the tree intact while create a contemporary form. the ‘shattered’ collection has a similar process but instead of branches, it uses cut sections from logs. this creates an effect that resembles shattered glass or ice, hence the name. comber’s most innovative use of wood can be found in his series of lampshades made from cedar trunks. the shades have small perforation drilled in the side to let light through. comber’s work is all made with sustainably harvested wood, often using scraps from wood mills.
